MAC Star Trek Collection Review – „Where No Man Has Gone Before“

Hey Guys

Welcome back to my blog! I know it’s been a while since this lipstick was released but still, I’m gonna show it to you and give you a full review as I only had the chance to really try this one in the recent weeks…

What am I talking about? The MAC Star Trek lipstick in the shade “Where No Man Has Gone Before”. This limited edition or rather saying whole product line of Star Trek make-up was released in September for celebrating the 50th anniversary and „Star Trek Beyond“.

Den MAC Star Trek Lippenstift in der Farbe „Where No Man Has Gone Before“. Diese limitierte Edition gehört zur gleichnamigen Produktlinie von Stark Trek und kam letzten September heraus, um den 50. Geburtstag und den Film „Star Trek Beyond“ zu feiern.

I just loved all the shades – especially of the lipsticks and the highlighters/bronzers – the shimmer and the design were simply amazing. I knew I had to have one product out of this line and I went for the lipstick. I mean it took me a while to find it as it was sold out everywhere so quickly but I finally got it online at Mac.

The Packaging

One could say it is the usual Mac packaging but they added a little shimmer to the lipstick packaging and the famous Star Trek icon saying 50. So nothing too extraordinary for a limited edition – I might have expected a cooler and more shimmery lipstick packaging but still, this one looks elegant and simple.

The Shade

First of: Puh! What a loooong name for a lipstick – say that three times in a row please without breaking your tongue 😉

I’d consider this shade to be a cool-toned electric pink with warm golden shimmer. The shimmer and finish make it very day-time appropriate otherwise I’d find this to be too bold… It is a lustre finish so the coverage is semi-transparent and needs to be re-applied after some hours. Although it has quite some glitter and shimmer to it, the lipstick applied very evenly and smooth on my lips and felt neither stiff nor „hard“…

You can wear this shade either all on its own for a very natural look or on top of a nude or pinky lip to give it some extra shimmer and shine.

Ich würde sagen, „Where No Man Has Gone Before“ ist ein eher kühles, leuchtendes pink mit warmen, goldenen Schimmer.

Overall, I’m really satisfied with this color – I had to get used to the coverage as I mostly wear full coverage and matte lipsticks. But after a little time I could handle it and the finish with its golden shimmer just looks gorgeous! Especially when the sun is shining…

Did you get any items of the Star Trek collection? What did you think of this lipstick?

Stay sparkling!

Kiko Cosmetics Blushes – Creamy vs. Powder

Welcome!

Today I prepared a new kind of post for you – I’m comparing my two Kiko blushes for you. Same brand, same kind of product but so different in their use, focus and result. Curious? Then read about it yourself.

Here at hand I have the Rebel Bouncy Cream Blush in Treasure Rose and the Blending Wave Multicolor Blush in the shade 03. The first one is a cream blush whereas the second one is powdery. So let’s go ahead…

The Packaging

I love elegant and golden packages so my favorite here is the Rebel Bouncy blush, it comes in a golden packaging with some ornaments on and inside is little mirror as well. It looks quite classy and sophisticated. Although the Blending Wave Blush also contains a mirror, the packaging is ‘cold’. It’s simply white with a stripe of bright pink color, that’s it…

The Color

Both colors are more or less a rose tone whereas the powder blush is two-colored – one light rose and another darker/brownish rose tone. Also the cream blush is more or less a darker rose. Well, I can’t help it, I love this color too much.

The Application

I always thought that a cream blush is hard to apply and difficult to work into the skin, leaving just a stripe of bold color but that’s not the case with this one. I use a real techniques blush and dap on the color two times and then apply it in circular motions on my cheeks – perfect color result. Coming to the powder blush, I have to admit that I found it quite difficult at the beginning to get the right amount of product on my brush. I often had too much and then just a bright spot of color on my face. Still, I found a way to avoid it by now. Neither is it dusty but smooth and soft when applying it – there’s no fall out as well.

The Pigmentation

As I’ve already told you, it was hard for me to get not too much product of the powder blush on my face… Also, this one is not very blendable only little to be honest. So it’s better to build up the color. (Well, at least it’s long-lasting then 😀 ) The cream blush has a great coverage and pigmentation, giving the cheeks an either natural look with only a little product or by building the color up leaves a more dramatic accentuation of the cheeks.

The Price

As the blushes are from the same brand, the prices are almost the same. Both are a limited edition and come from two different collections. I think I remember they both retailed for about 11€ but are now on sale! However, the cream blush is ways smaller than the Blending Wave blush so I figure this one is more worth the money.

The Overall Result

Honestly, I love both of the blushes! You get a really good quality for this price. Yes, I struggled with the powder blush in the beginning because it is too pigmented for my (one swipe of color) but now that I figured it, the color looks pretty and natural on my face. Also the cream blush gives a nice color finish and is easy to apply and blendable (which I didn’t expect for a cream blush). Overall, both colors give great pigmentation but I’d still prefer the powder blush just because it’s a blending wave and it’s bigger. You get two colors in one and more product…

Do you prefer cream or powder blushes? Let me know!

Guerlain „La Petite Robe Noire“ Lipstick & Nail Color – Reviews & Swatches

Welcome Back Everyone!

Two weeks ago I received an email from Douglas telling me that I am one of their lucky winners and will get a Make-Up Set from Guerlain Paris. What’s included? A beautiful red lipstick and a nail color in pink. More excited than ever I couldn’t wait to get them delivered… The whole line is inspired by their new fragrance “La Petite Robe Noire” so the products will smell irresistible!

And now I finally got my hands on these pretty products and tested them for you.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I start off with the packaging because it is so pretty and stunning. The set was delivered in a Guerlain bag and in it the folded lipstick and nail color in a pink paper. Opening it, I realized the outer carton package is held elegant and simple in black and silver however with the signature look of “La Petite Robe Noire”. On the opposite site of the carton you see the bold and colorful letter Guerlain which gives it a modern touch.

Inside even more beauty awaited. The lipstick and the nail color both have the upturned heart lid just as the fragrance and have a transparent packaging so you can see the colors directly.

Both also own the irresistible scent of “La Petite Robe Noire” – a mix of cherry, rose and tea, just amazing!

Guerlain Paris – Deliciously Shiny Lip Colour (2.8g for 29.99€)

With its new beauty line “La Petite Robe Noire” Guerlain designed 20 shades of strong lipstick colors ranging from nudes over rose, pink, red to purple and mauve. Guerlain promises a very shiny and light texture to underline the natural shine of the lips and to caress them.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I got the shade 022 Red Bow Tie, a classic and elegant red shade – a bright and shiny one with a warm undertone. It slides on very easy and soft, leaving a pearly and glossy finish, and smells gorgeous! The lipstick does not have opaque coverage but as it promises to be shiny and glossy this is totally alright with me. Already after one layer I got a nice, pigmented red color which doesn’t fade fast and is quite long-lasting. It takes care of the lips and ensures a bold color finish. Also the feeling on the lips is great, just like a lip balm.

Guerlain Paris – Deliciously Shiny Nail Colour (8.8ml for 24.99€)

For nails, Guerlain offers 8 different shades of nail color, all bold and enhanced with a beautiful smell. The nail color helps in three different ways: irresistible smell, ultra-shiny finish and a long-lasting color. Guerlain also promises to have created a brush that makes it easy, simply and precise to apply.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I received the shade 002 Pink Tie and I’m perfectly happy with it. The color is ultra-pink and was very easy to apply, the brush is very long and wide so that you only need to swipes per nail. I just needed one layer to have a really pigmented color. The color dried fast enough and right after that the perfume smell took over and is still there after three hours of wearing it. I guess I can say the color is very resistive and long-lasting, I cooked, washed the dishes and even cleaned the room and it still looks the same. The only thing that annoys me quite a bit is the small plastic ‘handle’ on the brush. It’s quite small and I found it hard to use it but that’s a very personal preference. Overall, the nail color fulfills what it promised, I especially love the shiny finish and the lasting smell of “La Petite Robe Noire”.

Well, what else can I say… I’m totally happy with my new products and so grateful I got them for free! I’m a huge fan of red and bold lipsticks, so I guess I’ll be wearing this one often. Considering the nail color, I love the shade, just right for summer, but definitely not an everyday look for work/ university. However, I’m on holiday right now and this is the perfect shade for my mood! And don’t forget that stunning, gorgeous and irresistible smell – I can’t get enough of it!

I hope you guys liked this post and let me know what you think of these products!
