MAC Star Trek Collection Review – „Where No Man Has Gone Before“

Hey Guys

Welcome back to my blog! I know it’s been a while since this lipstick was released but still, I’m gonna show it to you and give you a full review as I only had the chance to really try this one in the recent weeks…

What am I talking about? The MAC Star Trek lipstick in the shade “Where No Man Has Gone Before”. This limited edition or rather saying whole product line of Star Trek make-up was released in September for celebrating the 50th anniversary and „Star Trek Beyond“.

Den MAC Star Trek Lippenstift in der Farbe „Where No Man Has Gone Before“. Diese limitierte Edition gehört zur gleichnamigen Produktlinie von Stark Trek und kam letzten September heraus, um den 50. Geburtstag und den Film „Star Trek Beyond“ zu feiern.

I just loved all the shades – especially of the lipsticks and the highlighters/bronzers – the shimmer and the design were simply amazing. I knew I had to have one product out of this line and I went for the lipstick. I mean it took me a while to find it as it was sold out everywhere so quickly but I finally got it online at Mac.

The Packaging

One could say it is the usual Mac packaging but they added a little shimmer to the lipstick packaging and the famous Star Trek icon saying 50. So nothing too extraordinary for a limited edition – I might have expected a cooler and more shimmery lipstick packaging but still, this one looks elegant and simple.

The Shade

First of: Puh! What a loooong name for a lipstick – say that three times in a row please without breaking your tongue 😉

I’d consider this shade to be a cool-toned electric pink with warm golden shimmer. The shimmer and finish make it very day-time appropriate otherwise I’d find this to be too bold… It is a lustre finish so the coverage is semi-transparent and needs to be re-applied after some hours. Although it has quite some glitter and shimmer to it, the lipstick applied very evenly and smooth on my lips and felt neither stiff nor „hard“…

You can wear this shade either all on its own for a very natural look or on top of a nude or pinky lip to give it some extra shimmer and shine.

Ich würde sagen, „Where No Man Has Gone Before“ ist ein eher kühles, leuchtendes pink mit warmen, goldenen Schimmer.

Overall, I’m really satisfied with this color – I had to get used to the coverage as I mostly wear full coverage and matte lipsticks. But after a little time I could handle it and the finish with its golden shimmer just looks gorgeous! Especially when the sun is shining…

Did you get any items of the Star Trek collection? What did you think of this lipstick?

Stay sparkling!

The Balm NUDE’tude Eyeshadow Palette – Review & Swatches

Hey Guys!

Welcome back to a new blogpost, this time I will review my at the moment most favorite eyeshadow palette – theBalm NUDE’tude. A really lovely product I purchased during my holiday in Italy as this brand doesn’t retail in Germany.

So let’s get started!

TheBalm NUDE’tude (33.50€ for 12 eyeshadows)

First things first – theBalm has the cutest and prettiest retro packaging I’ve ever seen and I love their creative and funny names. I need to get my hands on more of their products, especially the eyeshadow palettes and the lipsticks!

Considering the packaging, the palette is protected by an additional cartboard packaging which makes it super easy to transport and for traveling. The palette as well is made of cartboard, contains a large mirror and closes magnetically. As the name kinda says, this palette features nude women only covered by different eyeshadows.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It holds 12 eyeshadows ranging from white over nude, rose shades to (darker) browns and black and a dual-ended eyeshadow brush (I have to admit, I don’t use it…). Let’s take a closer look at these:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sassy – A frosted white, very good pigmentation and ideal for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes

Stubborn – a peachy shade also with a frosted finish, slightly less pigmentation than in the palette because of the finish

Selfish – a dark brown-grey mixture, also a frosted finish but with good pigmentation

Snobby – a medium yellow with warm undertones and a golden frost finish with great pigmentation

Stand-offish – a light brown/ nude shade with a huge frozen or even metallic finish and thus a great color pay-off

Sultry – a medium brown with warm undertones and a matte finish, really good pigmentation and also perfect for the crease

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sophisticated – a dark, warm brown with bronzing glitter inside, perfect for in the crease

Sexy – a matte, burgunder red also perfect for defining the crease with a really good pigmentation

Serious – a matte black shade that has a good pigmentation but tends to be a little dusty

Seductive – a golden/ bronzed brown with a satin finish with a good color pay-off

Silly – a darker brown-reddish shade with glitter, tends to be semi-opaque in coverage and needs to be applied several times to make the glitter visible

Sleek – an intense dark brown/ black shade with a matte finish that gets a little dusty

Overall, the pigmentation of nearly all the shades is really good, they have mostly opaque coverage after one application however the matte shades tend to be more semi-opaque and need to be applied several times. Also most shades feel rather creamy and soft when applying without being dusty – except for the matte ones… Still, all shades are pretty easy to blend and harmonize perfectly together. This palette is rather warm toned and with more shimmering, frosted and glittery shades than mattes. I really love it because it can create various eye looks as the color variation is amazing!

What do you think?

Stay sparkling!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – „Rock Steady“

Hey guys,

I’m back with a brand new review, this time it’s on the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in the shade „Rock Steady“. I was so excited to finally get my hands on these but sadly I’m quite disappointed in their lipsticks… Why? Read about my experience down below.

120 shades, 20 of these exclusive to Sephora and six different and revised formulas. I was more than curious about their color range and their new formulas. As you could read in my Summer Favorites Post, I had a list of 10 favorite shades I wanted to swatch and buy… Well, at Sephora I was more than disappointed as some shades were simply not available (I checked three different stores) and the ones they had looked horrible on me. Still, I didn’t want to leave the store without an Urban Decay lipstick as I really wanted to try one of these, so I decided to go for a pretty dark red with a cream finish:

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – „Rock Steady“ (3.4g for 18.99€)

Talking about the paper packaging, its looks so pretty. I love the different colors of stacked lipsticks. Further, the packaging of the lipstick itself feels like high quality – a silver cap with carvings and a golden bottom, really nice. It also appeared to be quite ‚heavy‘ for a lipstick packaging.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’d describe the cream formula as follows: semi to full opaque coverage, high pigmentation, a little shine. The color for me is a  deep wine-like red and it has warm undertones to it. It is a cream finish so it should feel smooth when applying with a bit of shine to it.

That’s what the color looks like in the packaging but when I applied it to my lips it looked pretty much like a purple/ pinky red… To be honest, the pigmentation and the coverage are amazing, just one swipe and boom: popping and bright lips, but the color looks so much different and I don’t like pinky lispticks on me, at all!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Also concerning the texture, the lipstick felt really really tacky on my lips and when I opened my mouth it felt uncomfortable. Generally, the texture was not as smooth and soft as I expected it but rather damp and seriously too sticky. It did have some shine to it but as I don’t like the color, I’m just not happy with it as well. It didn’t leave a moisturized or hydrated feeling on my lips but made them rather dry after a while and after the re-application.

Considering the longevity, the lipstick ran into the corners of my lips, left huge prints on my food, water bottle and I even found some of the color in my car… So the color faded pretty fast, it only lasted for about two hours and I had to re-apply it again. Also I found it hard to apply the color precisely, I don’t know why but it was just too creamy and tacky…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So overall, you see I’m really disappointed – I expected so much, the color, the formula and the opinions of others… What were your experiences with the Vice Lipsticks? Any recommendation for me on how to solve my problem?

Have a great evening!

Mac „Cherish“ Satin Finish – Review

Welcome Back to The Real Wonderland!

Today I want to show you one of my favorite Mac lipsticks:

„Cherish“ – Satin Finish (3g for 20.50€ via Mac)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This finish is described as a semi-matte finish which means they shine just a little bit. The texture thus feels very soft and stays in place for a long time – even while eating and drinking.

„Cherish“ is a really nice beige with a slight touch of peach.
