Brushes & Bag

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The package features a super-pretty holographic make-up bag. It’s quite large and holds all my products when I’m on the way. I think I’m gonna use this one for all the products I need at university to refresh my make-up. Also they included 4 different brushes which ends are transparent with some ‚bubbles‘ inside. The tips of the brushes are black and rose, pink and mint. It’s a larger powder brush, a lip brush, and two eyeshadow brushes – one for blending and one for applying small amounts of products. I haven’t tested these yet but they feel quite soft and not too hard and synthetic, still need to check whether they blend well…

New Palettes

palettes.jpg

Look at the cute new palettes essence came up with! The packaging has little bright and colorful pearls at the top that move around… They offer two kinds of palettes: one for 4 pods and one for 8. Why am I saying „pods“? Well, the palettes are not magnetic like Z palettes but you can insert the little eyeshadow or blush pods from essence. Meaning only these fit in and no other magnetic eyeshadows which I find a bit sad. Also, there is no mirror on the inside so checking your make-up on the go isn’t possible. But for transporting your favorite shadows these palettes are really good and look very individual!

Neue Paletten

Lip Products

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The set also has two very glittery lipsticks: a silver and pink one. I’m not too sure if I’m gonna like these as I fear the glitter makes the lipstick stiff and hard to apply. I can imagine they look good on top of a lipstick to achieve a metallic finish… I have to play around with these two to find out 🙂

Also, essence came up with lip powders and a lip base which fit into their new palettes. The left pod is more or less a base or balm which you apply first on your lips and then top it with a rosy or pinky lip powder… Quite innovative as I haven’t seen this before and definitely need to check this out!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lippenprodukte

Powders & Blushes

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These are my favorite new products essence came up with! First, on the left side we have a translucent setting powder for the undereye and any oily spots in your face. Second, a highlighting shade which is a golden, vanilla shade with shimmer. And my all time favorites are the two shimmery blushes – one in rose and another in pink. The colors look so pretty. Also the powders all feel quite soft and blendable but I need to test them on the face…

Puder & Blushes

Eyeshadows

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

10 birthday shades! I divided mine into two different categories: nude, rose and vanilla shades and blue, green and silvers. Honestly, I love the palette on the left side more as I will use these colors more frequently but why not try something new? The blue and green shades will be perfect for that. Overall, they feel creamy and not very dry when I swatched them and the color pay-off is good for the price you’re paying!

Lidschatten

10 Geburtstags-Farben!

If you want a more detailed color description of the blushes and eyeshadows, please let me know in the comments down below!

So that was it! What do you think of the birthday collection? Did you get and try any of these products yet?

Stay sparkling!

Favorite Fall Blushes – Mac Fever & Swiss Chocolate

Hey Guys!

And welcome back to the Real Wonderland! Time’s flying so fast and it’s already fall and almost Halloween. So today, I prepared a little post about my favorite fall blushes – Mac Fever & Swiss Chocolate.

Let’s jump right into it!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mac powder blushes come in 4 different formulas:

  • Sheertone Shimmer – a shimmering blush that gives the face quite some glow (no opaque coverage)
  • Sheertone – a nicely shimmering finish with a little transparency
  • Satin – a creamy finish with semi-opaque coverage
  • Matte – a neutral finish, without any shine, easy to blend out the intense colors

My two blushes come with the formula matte, as this one just blends easily and the shades have a great color pay-off.

Mac Powder Blush „Fever“ (6g for 24.50€)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mac describes this shade as a „red-burgundy tone“ which fits it perfectly! The shade is a really nice darker red that reminds me of typical fall leaves that begin to fall from the trees. This blush has an amazing color pay-off so be careful and don’t use too much product otherwise you end up looking totally red in your face. However it blends very easy and feels rather creamy not really dusty – there’s no fall-out when applying it.

There are so many possibilities for wearing this blush! With a more natural look, only some mascara, a nude lipstick and only a little (!) amount of blush or for a night out or a more dramatic looks with smokey eyes (maybe in brown with a little touch of gold) and a darker plum/wine red lisptick where you accentuate your cheek bones.

Mac Powder Blush „Swiss Chocolate“ (6g for 24.50€)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mac calls this blush a „soft cocoa color“ which I agree to and add that his is more on the warmer side and a light to medium brown, just as milkchocolate. This blush is multi usable – I use it as a blush and also for contouring. Mostly I mix this shade together with Fever to have a darker red/brownish shade to accentuate my cheeks when wearing a mkore dramatic face makeup.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHowever it’s also really good for contouring, especially because it is so easy to blend and the pigmentation is as well amazing! The intensity can easily be increased by just adding a little more color and the shade really has opaque coverage so that it is just perfect as a contour color. Just a little secret by the way, when traveling or in need of a matte crease color, I use it as a transition shade in my crease and blend it with a crease brush to give my eyes more depth!

Here are some swatches for you to see these great fall colors!

Kiko Cosmetics Blushes – Creamy vs. Powder

Welcome!

Today I prepared a new kind of post for you – I’m comparing my two Kiko blushes for you. Same brand, same kind of product but so different in their use, focus and result. Curious? Then read about it yourself.

Here at hand I have the Rebel Bouncy Cream Blush in Treasure Rose and the Blending Wave Multicolor Blush in the shade 03. The first one is a cream blush whereas the second one is powdery. So let’s go ahead…

The Packaging

I love elegant and golden packages so my favorite here is the Rebel Bouncy blush, it comes in a golden packaging with some ornaments on and inside is little mirror as well. It looks quite classy and sophisticated. Although the Blending Wave Blush also contains a mirror, the packaging is ‘cold’. It’s simply white with a stripe of bright pink color, that’s it…

The Color

Both colors are more or less a rose tone whereas the powder blush is two-colored – one light rose and another darker/brownish rose tone. Also the cream blush is more or less a darker rose. Well, I can’t help it, I love this color too much.

The Application

I always thought that a cream blush is hard to apply and difficult to work into the skin, leaving just a stripe of bold color but that’s not the case with this one. I use a real techniques blush and dap on the color two times and then apply it in circular motions on my cheeks – perfect color result. Coming to the powder blush, I have to admit that I found it quite difficult at the beginning to get the right amount of product on my brush. I often had too much and then just a bright spot of color on my face. Still, I found a way to avoid it by now. Neither is it dusty but smooth and soft when applying it – there’s no fall out as well.

The Pigmentation

As I’ve already told you, it was hard for me to get not too much product of the powder blush on my face… Also, this one is not very blendable only little to be honest. So it’s better to build up the color. (Well, at least it’s long-lasting then 😀 ) The cream blush has a great coverage and pigmentation, giving the cheeks an either natural look with only a little product or by building the color up leaves a more dramatic accentuation of the cheeks.

The Price

As the blushes are from the same brand, the prices are almost the same. Both are a limited edition and come from two different collections. I think I remember they both retailed for about 11€ but are now on sale! However, the cream blush is ways smaller than the Blending Wave blush so I figure this one is more worth the money.

The Overall Result

Honestly, I love both of the blushes! You get a really good quality for this price. Yes, I struggled with the powder blush in the beginning because it is too pigmented for my (one swipe of color) but now that I figured it, the color looks pretty and natural on my face. Also the cream blush gives a nice color finish and is easy to apply and blendable (which I didn’t expect for a cream blush). Overall, both colors give great pigmentation but I’d still prefer the powder blush just because it’s a blending wave and it’s bigger. You get two colors in one and more product…

Do you prefer cream or powder blushes? Let me know!

Little Kiko Cosmetics Haul – Collaboration

Welcome Back Everyone!

Hope you’re all doing well and enjoy summer. Today I have some really exciting things to tell you… Lucy from Lucylovesme is joining me today for a little haul about our recent purchases from Kiko. As we both have bought different products, we’re sure there’s something for everyone in here. And also some of them are on sale right now and just right for summer, soooo…

Let’s get right into it!

Lucy loves…

3D Light & Glow Highlighter

kiko 3d light and glowHighlighters are ever so popular at the moment and are perfect for the summer weather when foundation is a little lighter or you’re just wearing a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. You want a radiant and dewy complexion and for the light to catch the high spots on your face. I think using a highlighter is a great addition to a day time look as you can still be natural and subtle with it or build up a bit more for the night time and use on eyes and cupids bow as well as on cheekbones. There are all forms in the shops at the moment: liquids, powder and seeing as we’re all on the go most of the time, tube highlighters really
hit the spot.

I have added to my Kiko Milano and highlighter collection with my latest purchase of the 3D Light & Glow Highlighter which is currently on sale in the UK at £4.90. It comes in 3 different tubes consisting of 3 colours. I have 02 Challenge Peach which is pink, bronze and beige. As always with Kiko, the packaging is gorgeous and not easy to miss in a bright fuchsia pink tube which has a built-in sponge at the bottom where you can blend either one or two or all of the colours.

The texture is quite rich, soft and creamy giving a subtle radiance depending on how much you want to build up, but it is very easy to blend with fingers or using the sponge. It also combines as a blusher on your cheekbones and a lovely highlighter if you use the lighter colours above the eye lid.
It is long-lasting (even during a very busy, hot, sweaty day!) but great for carrying around and applying quick, easy touch ups should you wish.

Baked Bronzer

20160808_101634I also adore the Kiko Milano Desert Dunes Baked Bronzer from the Limited Edition Wanderlust range (unfortunately now sold out) as it not only has the most gorgeous gold, glitzy yet chic and glamorous packaging, but is massive so will last for ages and has a big mirror inside useful for quick touch ups when you’re on the go. It gives a really natural glow and sheen without being too glittery or cakey. My only negative is that it doesn’t last too long so I find a few touch ups during the day or night are required. I have the matching face brush which is just as beautiful and a really well made, long-lasting brush.

Eyebrow Fibers Coloured Mascara

Eyebrow Fibers coloured mascara 05

The Benefit Brow range has had so much publicity of late and of course I have tried a few of the products, but was looking for something a bit less expensive and with a slightly bigger tube because as much as I do like the Benefit Gimme Brow, I do think £18.50 is expensive for a tiny tube of something you would use very quickly. So I purchased the Kiko Milano eyebrow fibers coloured mascara which is a bigger tube and a more wallet friendly £7.20 currently only £5 in the sale). The brush is slightly bigger than the Benefit Gimme Brow and more mascara like. It is easy to be quite heavy-handed with it and create really defined, thick, dark eyebrows, but I use gently and lightly for a more subtle definition and filling in sparse hairs. Mine is in 05 Deep Brunettes, but there is a really good range of colours unlike the Benefit which has only 3. They both have gel consistencies so if you use a thick sweep of the Kiko one then eyebrows can look quite glossy. It really depends what kind of look you are going for.

The Real Wonderland loves…

Make-Up Fixing Spray

P6187948.JPGFor summer especially I decided to try Kiko’s fixing spray. It doesn’t contain perfumes and part of its ingredients is camomile. Also, it’s made with a formula that has the effect to reduce allergic reactions. The packaging looks elegant and simple, the sray is easy to store and can be used on-the-go. The product promises to give a long-lasting, professional finish without being sticky. The result after one use was really satisfying. I sprayed with a 10cm distances just 1 second and my make-up was set completely. Nothing cakey or liquid and not possible to wipe away. The spray also cooled my face which I find very good for summer. Still, I will not repurchase this product as it only lasted about 2 weeks and it was empty although it is quite large with 75ml. So I guess I might look for a different fixing spray.

Blending Wave Multicolor Blush

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Next up is a really pretty blush I bought about a month ago at Kiko. It’s a two-color blending blush in the shade 03 – a really dark rose and a lighter rose shade with peachy undertones (was quite hard to define). The colors can either be worn seperately or both mixed and blended together, so you actually have two blushes in one… The packaging is different from a normal packaging, it lokks like it was just painted by an artist. The texture is silky and smooth without being dusty. Also the pigmentation is great – just one swipe is enough to have a good color-payoff. I think there is at least another shade available in a very light pink shade and it’s definitely on sale now… To read more about this product and to get some swatches, check my blog again in some days 😉

Rebel Bouncy Cream Blush

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a cream blush I found by accident during sale at Kiko, I got it just for 4€. This one is from the Rebel Romantic Collection and it’s available in four different shades: peach, pink, rose and dark red. Mine is the shade Treasure Rose. As the name already says, it’s a darker rose tone. I love the packaging of this blush, the golden shade makes it look really elegant and sophisticated and inside is a little mirror. The blush is smaller than I expected it but the color lasts very long because you don’t have to use a lot to get a good pigmentation. The texture is definitely really creamy and can be blended easily (that’s where most of the cream blushes have issues). Get your hands on it – it’s on sale now! And for more photos, information and swatches check my blog again in some days!

Hope you enjoyed our post and our haul! What did you recently buy at Kiko? Let me know…

W7 Palette „The Cheeky Trio“ – Review & Swatches

Welcome Back to The Real Wonderland!

It’s weekend – finally! For me this means I have to pack my bags and get ready for my trip to France, Italy and Austria…

Today I’ll show you the last review of the W7 Glam Box: The Cheeky Trio.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So, let’s jump right into it.

W7 Cheek Palette „The Cheeky Trio“ (g for ~8€ via Amazon)

The rosé gold palette contains three different cheek products – a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter.

4.jpg

This packaging is as well really robust and light at the same time. Personally, I love this packaging the most – it has a rosé gold cover and looks really fancy and elegant…

This palette has three bigger containers so that you get enough return out of every product.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Let’s consider the shades itself. They’re all quite matte, even the highlighter, but I’ll come to this later.

  • Dream Machine – the bronzer is a really soft and warm brown tone
  • 5th Avenue – the blush is quite pinky and has some shimmer in it
  • Hot Stuff – a warmer, champagne tone

I’m really satisfied with the bronzer and blush as the pigmentation and color pay-off is good and the colors are really buildable. Considering the highlighter, I’m not that happy, the pigmentation is not opaque at all and the color is too weak as well. The bronzer is also ideal for contouring as well or for getting a sun-tanned skin.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Still, every product feels very soft and creamy and is easy to apply. There’s no fall-out and neither are the shades dusty.

I guess overall the palette is good, the highlighter is more or less not appropriate for me but it can be used as a face powder. For the cheap price however the cheeky trio is alright.

What do you think? Did you try it already? Do you know any other good cheek palettes?
